After many trials and tribulations, the Historic El Fidel Hotel opened its doors in July, 1923 as the Meadows Hotel, with a dinner attended by many dignitaries including the governor. The occasion was hailed by the speakers as a crowning event in a remarkable demonstration of community enterprise.
